Dear Editor, We would like to congratulate all those who organized and supported the flood relief benefit concert on Fri., July 2. We are so grateful to live in a community that gives of themselves so generously and rallies through difficult times. Thank you to our town council and employees. Thank you to the many volunteers. You’ve all worked tirelessly in the last few weeks. Thank you to Nexen for their generous donation that evening. We just wanted to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank someone who was not formally recognized at the benefit concert. Duncan Whittick (manager of community development and recreation), from our perspective, has gone above and beyond his duties and has been a quiet leader during these trying times. Duncan also played a key role in organizing the fundraising event on July 2. I know Duncan is not looking for public acknowledgments for what he would consider simply doing his job and helping his community, but we wanted to express our appreciation for his work and commitment to Maple Creek. We’ve come to know Duncan and appreciate his role with the town and feel that he and his position have been an excellent addition to our community. Thank you Duncan. Wes and Kim Eng Maple Creek |
