Rooms, equipment available to sponsor at new health facility

Posted on January 2, 2014 by Maple Creek

Residents of the Southwest can now make donations for specific rooms, furnishings and equipment for their new integrated healthcare facility.

The Southwest Healthcare Trust Board has now released a list of rooms, furnishings and equipment needed to be sponsored to provide the necessary services at the new facility.

The list provides community-minded citizens, small businesses and corporations with the opportunity to sponsor a specific item, room or department, which they will receive recognition for. The donor opportunities list also indicates costs of all specific items for the convenience of potential donors.

“The rooms are all priced, so if people want to make a donation of $5,000, we look through our list and see if we can find one,” explained Graham Markert, co-chair of the Southwest Healthcare Trust Board.

The costs of rooms range from $500 vestibules to $250,000 to sponsor an entire wing in the long-term care facility.

The donor opportunities list covers essentially every room in the new facility, with the final page covering individual pieces of equipment available to donate towards.

About 10 rooms have been sponsored so far.

With the facility set to be in operation late next year, Markert acknowledged the importance of sponsorship. The facility quickly taking shape gives people a great glimpse at what’s to come, he noted.

“The building’s there now, and we’re hoping that’ll help (with sponsorship),” he said. “We’re close, but we still need a fair chunk of change to get it furnished.”

Purchases to outfit the new facility are now being made on a regular basis, making it a critical time to have the funding in place so the facility can be opened fully equipped, the board emphasized.

Cypress Health Region reports the building project is on schedule and budget. Health care professionals have been undergoing training in an effort to become more familiar with up-to-date procedures for improved efficiencies in rural health care delivery.

The donor opportunities list is available in both electronic or hard copy form by contacting Markert at 306-662-8215 or g.markert@sasktel.net, co-chair Anthony Hoffart at 306-662-7087 or treasurer Barry Elderkin at 306-662-3250 or b.elderkin@sasktel.net.
