This is a message from the RCMP Saskatchewan Crime Watch Advisory Network.
The Shaunavon RCMP have recently been receiving complaints from the Public regarding an automated phone call from persons identifying themselves as representatives of Service Canada. The phone message threatens Police action where if the caller does not return the message that Police will arrest them or seek charges. If the caller returns the phone message they will speak to a person who will ask them for financial details such as their Social Insurance Number (SIN) or bank account details.
The Shaunavon RCMP are advising the public to hang up and not provide any financial details. People who have received this call can visit the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre online at http://www.antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca/index-eng.htm or can call 1-888-495-8501 to report an incident.
If you have provided financial details it is important that you contact your financial institution and advise them as well as monitor any suspicious activity on your account or credit history..
