The new integrated health care facility is of world-class calibre, says Stantec’s Bob Friesen. He along with representatives from the Oversight Committee, Cypress Health Region, the province, ZW Group of Companies and the Dr. Noble Irwin Foundation explained to approximately 300 people on May 13 where the project now stands.

Specialized health care workers took to the picket lines in Swift Current on May 13.
About 50 counsellors, dietitians, health educators, psychologists, public health inspectors, social workers and speech language pathologists with the Health Sciences Association of Saskatchewan (HSAS) began the one-day protest at 8 a.m. as the action moved to Cypress Health Region after previous strikes at Prince Albert and Saskatoon.

Council is debating providing a grant for the re-establishment of Maple Creek’s theatre.
A request was brought forward by members of the Arts & Culture Coalition for a grant of $1,000 from town during council’s regular meeting on May 10.

Flood danger subsided at Eastend PDF Print

Eastend residents can rest easier as the threat of flooding has passed. After weeks of preparing for the possibility of flooding, Mayor Scott Morvik had the village’s flood alert lifted on April 29.
According to the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority (SWA), flows in the Missouri River Basin along the south slope of the Cypress Hills near Eastend peaked on April 29 at 40 cubic metres per second. SWA had issued an alert for the basin on April 18, predicting flows at a possible 200 cubic metres per second.
