By Marcia Love burstall–A boil water advisory has been in effect in the town of Burstall while the community receives upgrades to its water treatment plant. The advisory was implemented on Jan. 6, as the treatment facility enhancements came underway, and the safety of the town water supply could not be ensured at all times. As a precautionary measure, all residents and those using Burstall’s water supply are recommended to boil all drinking water for at least one minute before use. People are also suggested to boil all water used for other activities where water consumption may occur, including the washing of fruits and vegetables, brushing teeth, making ice cubes and any water involved in food preparation. Residents are also discouraged from drinking water from any water fountains in the town. Parents are advised to ensure young children do not ingest any water that has not been boiled first. It is not necessary for water to be boiled for any household purposes where water is not ingested, such as laundry or showering. Lucein Stuebing, administrator for the Town of Burstall, said the boil water advisory should be in effect for eight to 12 weeks until the treatment facility is fully upgraded. “When it’s all said and done, it should be a big improvement for us,” she said. |
