By Marcia Love Hayward, who is a native of Oxbow, Sask. and now resides in Toronto, has written over 40 plays, 27 of which are published. His most popular play, High School for Dummies, was inspired when Hayward observed a group of teens discussing the popularity of the self-help book series and felt there should be a book on high school for dummies. From surviving an awkward bus ride to dealing with horrible cafeteria food, High School for Dummies explores the problems many teens face in high school with a satirical twist. Hayward commended the cast and crew on their lively performance. “I see a group of 27 really talented people,” he said. “It’s always fun to see actors playing more than one part and stretching their acting abilities.” The Renegade Players will be presenting High School for Dummies as their competition performance piece at the Regional Drama Festival in Swift Current on March 12.
