GETZ - Florentina Getz, age 78 years, of Fox Valley, Sask. passed away January 22, 2012.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Cecilia (Rodney) Beierbach of Richmound, Sask., Lorraine (Gary) German of Medicine Hat, Alta., Harvey (Penny Getz) of Redcliff, Alta., Terry (Nicole) Getz of Maple Creek, Sask. and Cory Getz of Calgary, Alta.; 12 grandchildren, Renee (Troy Glass), Tracey (Cory Turner), Shane and Bobby Beierbach, Stacey (Keith Greggins), Natasha Beierbach and Jesse German, Justin and Nadine Getz, Tia, Santana and Emerson Getz, and seven great grandchildren Hunter Glass, Chaseton, Chance, Baylee and Phoenix Turner; Ember Beierbach and Frost Getz. Two brothers John (Ann) Lacher of Medicine Hat, Alta., Frank (Joanne) Lacher of Moose Jaw, Sask. and two sisters Loretta Kuntz of Prelate, Sask. and Ann Marie (Les) Ganert of Fox Valley, Sask.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Phyllis Getz, Rose Getz, Charlie (Lydia) Getz, Peter (Veronica) Getz and Ralph (Frances) Getz all of Medicine Hat, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Florentina is predeceased by her husband John, her parents Wendlin and Rosemary Lacher and father-in-law and mother-in-law Frank and Elizabeth Getz.
She grew up on the family farm near Fox Valley. Florentina married John, June 14, 1955 and together they worked the Getz family farm for 31 years. John and Florentina then retired to Fox Valley.
She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, playing cards, watching curling, quilting and crocheting. Florentina will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Prayers were held Tuesday, January 24 at 7 p.m. The funeral service was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fox Valley, Sask. on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Emmanuel Azike officiating. A private family interment will take place at the Fox Valley Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Tia Getz, Lyle Ganert, Jesse German, Justin Getz, Gordon Kuntz, Shane Beierbach. Honorary pallbearers were all those who shared in Florentina’s life.
