MUNSCH - Ronald "Ron" Lyle Munsch ~ 1938 - 2010 Mr. Ronald "Ron" Lyle Munsch, beloved husband of Mrs. Betty Ann Munsch of Medicine Hat, passed away on Thurs., Feb. 11, 2010 at the age of 71 years. Ron also leaves to cherish his memory two sons: Scott (Michelle) Munsch and their children, Reece and Riley; Wade (Kristy) Munsch and their children, Austin, Levi and Abby; all of Dunmore; two brothers, Mervin Munsch of California, and Clifford (Lillian) Munsch of Piapot, Saskatchewan; four sisters, Esther Anton, Elsie Torgerson, both of Medicine Hat, Mable (Bill) Mischikie of Red Deer and Glenda Neitz of Golden Prairie; one sister-in-law, Joan Munsch; and a special friend, Peter Hoeppner; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ron was predeceased by his parents, William and Sara Munsch; two brothers, Ken Munsch and Oscar Munsch; his father and mother-in-law, Art and Irene Herman; his brothers-in-law, Mel Torgerson and Leonard Neitz; and his sister-in-law, Shirley Munsch. Ron was born on Sept. 17, 1938 in Maple Creek and was raised in Piapot. In his younger years, he played the accordion with his brothers in their own band. Ron moved to Alberta in 1966, following his marriage to Betty Ann Herman on November 19. Together they farmed and ranched in the Elkwater area until 1986 when they relocated to Dunmore where they continued dairy farming. In 2007, they retired and sold the dairy cows, but remained on the farm. When his boys were growing up, Ron was a 4-H leader and received many awards for his leadership skills. Ron was a very active member of the Moose Lodge since 1974; serving on the board, helping with fundraisers, and the children's Christmas parties. Ron enjoyed playing cards and visiting with family, friends and all those he met. The funeral service was held in Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel, #1 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, on Mon., Feb. 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Loren Hosfield officiating. Interment followed in the family plot at Hillside Cemetery.
