GILBERT – Cliff
Cliff Gilbert age 66 years of Eastend, Saskatchewan died on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Eastend Wolf Willow Health Centre.
He was born at Eastend on April 7, 1951. Cliff grew up at Southfork and received his education at Dollard, Saskatchewan and at Eastend. He attended Technical School in Moose Jaw and became a Journeyman Carpenter. He married Liane Nielsen at Eastend on August 23, 1975. They lived in Medicine Hat, Alberta for a couple of years before returning to farm and ranch at Eastend. Cliff served as a Councillor for the R.M. of Arlington for many years. He enjoyed being a part of Duck’s Unlimited. He also worked as a Pest Control Officer and Weed Inspector for surrounding Rural Municipalities and was an Adjustor for Municipal Hail Insurance. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping as well as collecting guns, old traps and horns. His greatest joy was his family and he took great pride in his four grandsons.
He was predeceased by his father Orland on January 17, 1985, his father-in-law Deany Nielsen on April 30, 1998 and nephews Jason Gilbert, Aaron Gilbert and Larry Nielsen.
He is survived by his wife Liane; two daughters Kendra Fahselt (Aaron) and grandchildren Mackinon and Kye of Shaunavon; and Robin Mokelki (Jody) and grandchildren Wyatt and Owen of Eastend; special nephew Dale Gilbert of Edmonton; his mother Grace Studer of Eastend; brothers Bill (Charlotte), Robert (Leanne), Calvin and John (Charlene) as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held from Eastend Memorial Hall on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Funeral Celebrant Bernadette Schneider officiating. Dale Gilbert presented the eulogy and honorary pallbearers were Aaron Fahselt, Mackinon Fahselt, Kye Fahselt, Jody Mokelki, Wyatt Mokelki and Owen Mokelki. Scattering of his cremated remains will take place in the spring time at his beloved coulee.
Binkley’s Funeral Service of Shaunavon (www.Binkleys.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
