RICHARDS – Audrey Christina Richards ~ April 20, 1918 – November 10, 2017
Audrey Richards, beloved wife of the late Earl Richards of Maple Creek, passed away at the Stensrud Lodge on November 10, 2017 at the age of 99 years. She was the loving mother of Wayne (Blanche) of Cochrane, Alta; Doug (Dawn) of Saskatoon, Sask; and the late Keith (Debbie) of Regina, Sask. She will be dearly missed by her 6 grandchildren, 9 greatgrandchildren, her sister Jean Forsyth of West Vancouver, B.C., as well as nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
She
was predeceased by her husband, Earl and son, Keith; as well as brother Jim Fleming, brother-in-law Irvin Richards, and sister-inlaw Frances Richards.
Audrey loved to crochet, knit, sew and do needlepoint and petite point. Throughout the years in Rosthern and Maple Creek she was active in the United Church. She hosted piano music lessons in Elstow and helped with music and school concerts. In Maple Creek she and Earl maintained a lot of flowers in the garden and won many horticulture awards at the local fairs. Also in Maple Creek, she provided room and board for many RCMP personnel while Earl was working in Shaunavon. She finished her work career at the Maple Creek Credit Union as a teller. Over the years they enjoyed many trips to Vancouver, Victoria, Hawaii, Scotland and Alaska and spent a few winters as snow birds in Arizona. Wherever she was she made friends easily and always participated in the activities available. She will be missed.
A Service of Remembrance
will be held on Friday, November 24, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home (East on 8th St.; first right past Briargate Rd.). Donations may be made in memory of Audrey to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Expressions of condolence may be sent to the family by visiting http://www.hillcrestmemorial.ca
