The Maple Creek Senior Hawks hockey club is taking a leave of absence from the 2011-12 hockey season. "We had a meeting there on Monday night at the rink, and the players that were there are prepared to play rec hockey this year," said Senior Hawks manager John Duncan.
An incredible night of hockey took place on Friday during the Cypress Cyclones home opener. A record number of fans lined the stands and even as the Cyclones and the Assiniboia Southern Rebels took to the ice, patrons were still lined up out the door at the Maple Creek Community Arena.
