Minor sports in Maple Creek are in danger of becoming obsolete if community members don't get involved. "We really need to get some board members, some volunteers," said Sean Chapman, a member of Maple Creek's Minor Sports Association.

The Cypress Cyclones were unable to secure a win at either of their away games over the weekend. The team was defeated 4-1 by the Saskatoon Westleys on Saturday, and by the Saskatoon Quakers 7-2 on Sunday.

The Maple Creek Senior Hawks hockey club is taking a leave of absence from the 2011-12 hockey season. "We had a meeting there on Monday night at the rink, and the players that were there are prepared to play rec hockey this year," said Senior Hawks manager John Duncan.
