CASWELL – Doris Adel Bridget (Braniff) Caswell

Doris was born March 23, 1934 in Maple Creek, Sask. She was the fourth of six children born to Susie and Charlie Braniff of Piapot, Sask.

Doris was predeceased by her husband Casey Caswell, parents Charlie and Susie, younger brother Arthur and older brothers Tom and Curt and niece Joanie Rea (Van Drunen).

Doris is survived by her son Joe Braniff (Mandy) and grandson Hunter. She is also survived by her older sister Alma Van Drunen of Surrey, B.C.; younger sister Margaret Sens of Regina, as well as sister-in-law Helena Braniff of Regina and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their respective families.

Doris spent many years working in the health care services, first as a teenager in the old Maple Creek Hospital, then later receiving further training and employment at the Grey Nuns in Gravelbourg. She then went on to work as a nurses aide in Regina, Swift Current Hospital, Swift Current Geriatric Centre and the Cypress Lodge in Maple Creek. Doris was also employed at the Commercial Hotel as well as the Piapot Hotel.

Doris resided in Swift Current for many years where she met and fell in love with and married Casey Caswell and resided there until his passing. She then returned to Piapot and later Maple Creek.  Her latter years were spent under the kind and loving care at Cypress Lodge.

Doris suffered a major stroke on Tues., Oct. 14 and was transfered to Swift Current Hospital until her passing on Wed., Oct. 22.

Memorial will be held at the Piapot Legion Hall on Thurs., Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. Her ashes will be interred during a family ceremony at the Piapot Cemetery on the same day.

Donations if desired may be given to the Cypress Lodge Activities.
