MILLER – Anne ~ February 22, 1933 ~ August 19, 2015
Anne G. Miller, 82, of Willmar, died Wednesday August 19, at her home. A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday August 24 at Vinje Lutheran Church, in Willmar. Visitation was from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home, in Willmar and continued to one hour prior to the service at church. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery, in Willmar. Anne Grant Miller was born to Ross and Dorothy (Beatty) Haigh on February 22, 1933 in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. She attended school in the Maple Creek area. She would further her education at the University of Manitoba where she received her bachelor degree in home economics.
On May 31, 1955, Anne was united in marriage to Gene Miller at St. Lucas Church near Clarkfield, MN. To this union three children were born –Leslie, Steve and Jodi. In 1960, Anne and the family moved to Willmar where she made her home. During this time she started working at West Central Industries, where she continued to work for nearly 40 years.
Anne was an active member of Vinje Lutheran Church, spending time helping with Sunday school readings, Bible school, and working in the kitchen. She was very active in the community, where she was involved with Senior Companions Program, Women’s Crisis Center, ARC of Minnesota and many other organizations. She received many civic awards for her volunteer work. She was also the adoptive grandma of many, and was called Grandma Anne by young people who reached far beyond her immediate family.
Anne is survived by her children: Leslie (Rick) Andreas of Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, Steve (Jodi) Miller of Estero, FL, Jodi Miller (special friend, Barry Cook) of Thomasville, NC; grandchildren: Michelle Andreas, Amy (Bo) Simpson, Katie (Tim) Olsen, Teri (Blair) Forkey and Cody Miller; great grandchildren Lachlan and Blythe Simpson; Zac, Hazel, Hanna and Clara Olsen; Griffin and Callie Forkey. She is also survived by her siblings: David Haigh and Jane Pierce, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Mary Guenther.
