Pearson, Don

PEARSON – Don Pearson, age 80 years of Eastend, died suddenly on Monday, August 24, 2015.
He was born at Eastend on May 1, 1935. Don attended school in Ravenscrag until Grade 4, and then completed his high school in Eastend. He attended the School of Agriculture in Saskatoon, graduating in 1955, and returned in January 2015 for his 60-year class reunion.
Don married Darleen Thompson on October 10, 1966 at Eastend United Church. They lived on the farm at Ravenscrag until they moved to Eastend to retire in 2002.
Don served on numerous community, agricultural and political boards and committees. He was a charter and life member of the Eastend Kinsmen Club and a charter member and still active member of the Eastend K40 Club. He served as councilor for several years and as reeve for 10 years for the RM of White Valley. In retirement he enjoyed following his grandchildren and spent endless hours watching hockey, baseball and soccer. Don remained interested in farming and continued to actively help out on the farm.
He was predeceased by his father Alfred in 1974, his mother Evelyn in 1978, his brothers-in-law Joe Gehlen and Bus Lawrence, his father-in-law Clarence Thompson in 1993 and his mother-in-law Flora Thompson in 2011.
Don is survived by his wife Darleen, son Tom (Michelle), grandsons Reese and Justin; daughter Roberta McIntyre (Kyle), granddaughter Mackenzie, grandson Makstr; sisters Bertha Regan and Ellen Tiedeman (Bud), brothers Walter (Jean) and Bruce (Myrna), his brother-in-law Gordon Thompson (Norma) as well as by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Friday, August 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. from Eastend Memorial Hall in Eastend, Saskatchewan with Wayne Elhard officiating. A private family interment service at Riverside Cemetery at Eastend preceded the service. The eulogy was presented by Lester and Heather Morvik. Special music was by West Bench Colony. The pianist was Shelley Morvik. The ushers were Darrell Morvik and Dwane Morvik. Honorary pallbearers were “The Gang.” Pallbearers were Todd Pearson, Cory Pearson, Mark Pearson, Derrick Pearson, Greg Gehlen and Lee Egland.
