BLUMHAGEN – Donna Lauraine (Dorsey) Blumhagen
Donna was born on November 4, 1942, she passed away on September 17, 2017 at the age of 74.
Donna was predeceased by her beloved husband Bert, her parents William John Dorsey and Bertha Agnes (Taylor) Dorsey, her twin brother Donald Leroy Dorsey.
Donna is survived by her three daughters and one son.
Audrey and her husband Todd Wensink of Maple Creek and their son Aaron.
Lorna and her husband Peter Koch of Saskatoon and their daughter Naomi and son Tyler and his wife Vanessa and their daughter Madison.
Karen and her husband Richard Clark of Swift Current and Karen’s children Lisa and her children Austin, Adrian and Aiden, Harry and Christina and her husband Dave and their children Taci and Kye.
Keith and his wife Wendy of Maple Creek and their children Shelton, Tianna and Kaitlyn.
Donna was born at Kindersley and raised in Alsask.
Donna married Bert Blumhagen on Sept. 30, 1961 and lived on a farm west of Maple Creek, where they resided there till Bert semi-retired in 1998, after her husband became ill they sold their house and moved to a condo in February 2009. After the passing of her husband Bert she moved to the Southwest Integrated Health Care Facility December 2010, where she resided until her passing on Sept. 17, 2017.
Donna was a farmer’s wife, she helped out on the farm, preparing meals for harvesting, branding occasions. She loved to bake donuts, breads, cakes, cookies.
Donna was an active member at the Royal Edward Community and belonged to the United Church and always willing to lend a hand with meals or helping with some church duties.
Donna’s spare time was playing cards, camping, many picnics on Sunday after church at Cypress Park. She also loved walking and along the way she would visit with friends.
In later years, Donna and Bert did some travelling to the East Coast, Hawaii, Alaska, Brandon and the National Rodeo in Las Vegas and Disneyland, camping trips to Waskesiu. Activities filled with lawn bowling, swimming, hiking, dart games. Donna was a great listener and did give opinions/ideas.
We will miss her wisdom, hugs and laughter.
Rest in peace
The funeral service was held at the Salvation Army Church on Sept. 22, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. with Captain Ed Dean. Interment was held after the service at the Maple Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers were Tyler Koch, Naomi Koch, Shelton Blumhagen, Tianna Blumhagen, Kaitlyn Blumhagen, Aaron Wensink.
