Hope, Nancy

HOPE – It is with great sadness that the family of Nancy Aileen (Rife) Hope announce the passing of our mom and grandmother. Nancy passed away peacefully at her home on January 11, 2018 at the age of 83.
Nancy was born on January 9, 1935 to Emery & Helen Rife at the farm located in the Arbana District southwest of Maple Creek.
Nancy the youngest of 10 children loved living on the farm and attended the Arbana School until she started high school in Maple Creek. She graduated on June 4, 1954 and then continued her education at Garbutt’s Business College in Medicine Hat. Upon completion of her certificate of a Secretarial/Bookkeeping Course she returned to Maple Creek. Nancy worked for several businesses doing their books such as 1-21 for Ray McIntyre, Edwin Arendt at the John Deere Business and also at New Central Motors.
In October 1958, Nancy married Kenneth Hope and resided on the farm east of Maple Creek.
Nancy was very involved with various committees such as the Rebekah Lodge, the Motherwell UCW, Hospital Auxiliary and in the later years with the Senior Centre and Meals on Wheels. Nancy was still very active with the United Church activities and enjoyed playing cards at the Senior Centre.
Nancy enjoyed her many travels that she took to different parts of the world, such as New Zealand/Australia, Africa, Egypt, Panama Canal, Yukon to name just a few.
Nancy is survived by her (4) children and their families,
Jewel (Jack) grandchildren Shaun (Sara), Alyssa (Steve) & great grandchildren Kai & Shae
Perry
Clinton, grandchildren Braydon & Danielle
Yvette (Calvin) grandchildren Sydney & Aden
Nancy was predeceased by her father & mother Emery & Helen Rife, sisters Eva Barroby, Hazel Latendresse, Laura Ivan, Joyce Ewings, & brothers Ralph, Lloyd, Art & Reg Rife. She is survived by her sister June Whitney and sister-in-law Margaret Rife.
A funeral service was held on January 20, 2018 at the Maple Creek United Church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the United Church.
