Election of officers

Posted on February 4, 2021 by Maple Creek

Three fresh faces, two departures, and another term for Donny White.
The Jasper Cultural & Historical Centre’s board for 2021 is a mixture of the new and familiar.
After last Thursday’s annual general meeting, White began a second three-year stint as chair. Under board rules, the chairperson must step down after two terms.
The three newcomers are Dale Groves, Jean McKendry and Mel Smith.
They join a nine-member board that also includes Roy Erickson (vice-chair) Cindy Drury (secretary), Cheri Shapley (treasurer), and directors Henry Mulatz and Lee Zanidean.
The two leaving are Tara Truemner, vice-chair, and Tom Sandau, a director.
Speaking after the AGM, White said Truemner was taking a break and had pledged to continue to support the Centre. He added that Sandau would continue to maintain the Jasper Centre’s boiler.
“Tom has been an absolute gift to this building for three years,” said White. “We feel honoured that he will continue to maintain the boiler system and has done so much work to bring it up to the level it is at right now where the temperature is maintained.”
White said Sandau and Mulatz, with help from Erickson, had done a lot of carpentry that was integral to changes at the Centre.
About 12 people attended the AGM in the Archie Eichhorn Gallery. It lasted about 30 minutes. The monthly meeting was held on the same evening.
