BEASLEY – Letitia (nee Drinkwater) Beasley

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our dear beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother on Aug. 19, 2014 at the age of 93 years.

Letitia (Letty) was born on the family farm Jan. 9, 1921 to Harry and Christina Drinkwater. Mom grew up on the farm with two older brothers Robert Butts and Alvin Drinkwater.

She attended school at Stoney Knoll Country School and later boarded in Piapot to complete her high school.

Mom had many talents, she enjoyed playing the piano and for many years played with the Coulter Orchestra in Piapot. While living in town she met, fell in love and married our father Gordon Beasley. They made their home in Piapot and enjoyed over 50 years of marriage. They had four children Gordon, William, Gail and Grant. Family was mom’s greatest treasure and to her family she devoted all of her love. Her caring and cherishing was a way of life in our home. From mom we learned life’s values, honesty and respect for others.

For many years mom was a devoted keeper of the Anglican Church. She took great pride in cleaning and preparing for Sunday services where she could use her talent to decorate for the occasion. Mom always had her seat for the Sunday morning service.

Letty is predeceased by her parents Harry and Christina Drinkwater, husband Gordon Beasley, two sons Gordon and Grant; brothers Alvin Drinkwater, Robert Butts and sister-in-law Ruby Butts, grandson Troy New and son-in-law Terry New.

She is survived by her children William Beasley (Jeanette) and Gail New (Terry); grandchildren Lori Kovacs (Terry), Bruce Beasley (Deb), Barbara Beasley (Trevor) and Travis New (Jennifer). She is also survived by her great grandchildren Kelan Kovacs, Jory Kovacs, Erik Sigundson, Lara New and Josie New.

A family graveside service was held in Piapot Cemetery with Reverend Eleanor Rockabar officiating and Letitia’s family as pallbearers. A memorial reception was held Mon., Aug. 25 at 2:30 p.m. at the Piapot Legion Hall.
