Bohnet, Isabel Ruth (Fondrick)

Posted on March 17, 2015 by Maple Creek

BOHNET – Isabel Ruth (Fondrick) of Maple Creek, Sask. passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 13, 2015 at 75 years of age.
Isabel was the second child of Folten and Martha Fondrick and grew up riding horses and working for her Dad on the ranch in the Totthill district northwest of Elkwater, Alberta.
In 1958 she married Clarence Albert Bohnet and they ranched in the Thelma district on the Elkwater bench. She is survived by and will be dearly missed by two sons Marty (Marie), Randy (Kathryn) and the joy of her life, grandsons Mathew and Lucas, all of Maple Creek.
In 1978 she and Clarence bought the Small Ranch southwest of Maple Creek and moved to her favourite home. She loved the Cypress Hills, but much preferred the winters looking “at” them rather than living “in” them!
Isabel spent her life caring for her family.  She was always available to drive truck, help get a cow in, cook for the crew, lend a hand at the Winery and was willing to drop everything she was doing to babysit.
The one thing she did solely for her own enjoyment was her art work. A self-taught artist, Isabel painted numerous beautiful water colour and oils.  Her favourite subjects were hummingbirds, ranch life and landscapes.  She loved bright colours and her love of animals came through in the time she took with the details.
An avid gardener, she always planted a HUGE garden and was the undisputed “Queen of Potatoes!”   Every year she vowed to plant less… Never did happen.
She was predeceased by her husband Clarence in 2010 and her brother Harvey Fondrick in 2000.  She is survived by two special sisters, Betty (Jack) Reesch of Seven Persons, Alta. and Marlene (Jake) Waldner of Medicine Hat, Alta.;  brothers-in-law Ed (Judy) Bohnet, of Saanich, B.C., Fred (Iris) Bohnet of Medicine Hat, sister-in-law Carol (Warren) Rudolph of Duncan, B.C. and their families.
The memorial service to celebrate Isabel’s life will be held at 2:30 pm, Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 501 Harder St., Maple Creek, Sask.
Memorial donations can be made to the Southwest Health Care Trust Fund, c/o Cypress Credit Union.
