JENSEN – Art Jensen, age 84, of Medicine Hat, Alberta, formerly of Maple Creek and Piapot, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 7, 2016 in the Riverview Long Term Care Centre.
He was born in Maple Creek on May 26, 1931, the oldest of three children. Art had a mixed farm south of Piapot and took great pride in operating the seed cleaning business that he built from the Piapot Pool elevator. He had a passion for woodworking throughout his life. Many evenings were spent visiting and playing cards with neighbors, friends and relatives. He will be fondly remembered by the staff and residents at the Wellington in Medicine Hat as the Gentle Giant.
He is survived by Lucy, daughter Carolyn (Wes Galbraith) and children Davin Galbraith (Bobbi-Jo) and son Tatum, Karla Saufert (Monte) and children Nash and Josie; son Dale (Susan) and children Kristina and Dylan; Daughter Annette; sister Florence Cooper; sister-in-laws Molly Jensen, Cissy Garnons-Williams; Frances Hancock, Marion and Addy Egert, Janette and Doug Fawcett, Gayetta and Keith Godlonton and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents Magnus and May Jensen, son David, brothers Albert and Mack, sister Mary, five brother-in-law’s, and a sister-in-law.
A Funeral Service was held on April 15, 2016 at the United Church in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan with Eleanor Bowie officiating.
