RUDD – Darcy Rudd
Dec. 31, 1964 – Dec. 24, 2016
The family of Darcy Rudd sadly inform of his unexpected passing on December 24, 2016 at the age of 51.
He leaves to cherish his memory his brothers, Dale (Sandra), Barry, Trevor (Linda); his sister, Sheila (Ken) Pearce; nephews and nieces, Quinten Pearce, Stacey (Andrew) McFetridge, Craig Rudd, BJ Rudd, Garry (Alison) Peltier, Carson Rosebrugh; and his four-legged companion, Goofy.
He was met in heaven by predeceased parents, Albert and Mary Rudd.
During his school years in Maple Creek, he enjoyed playing hockey and football as well as trumpet in the school band.  Mary had many early mornings and travelled many miles getting him to practices.
Darcy started his working career in the oil patch servicing wells.  He also spent time working as a firefighter in protection services for the oilfield in Alberta and Saskatchewan.  However, he realized his true calling was farming and ranching with his Dad.  Eventually, Darcy took over the family farm with his brother, Dale, in Hatton, Sask., along with the help of his right-hand man over the last few years, Carson Rosebrugh. While on the farm he also dedicated his time to serving as a counselor for RM 111 of Maple Creek and snow plowed for Nexen.
Darcy was an outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, fishing, motor biking, quading and trap shooting with his many friends and had a love for animals.  He shared his love of the outdoors with his nephews and nieces who have numerous childhood memories of dirt biking, bale forts, cattle prods, Medicine Hat Tigers hockey games, pizza and being pulled behind various equipment on tire tubes.  He was an amazing uncle and an integral part of their adventurous childhoods on the farm.  Darcy was a very hardworking man but always made time for family and friends.  Whether it was a game of shuffle board, darts, pool, cards or just a chat, he always made you feel welcome.  Darcy had a generous spirit and his laugh filled the room and was very contagious, jokes were always fun to share with him.  Get togethers at the farm were legendary and Darcy was always happiest when music was playing and friends and family could spend time at his house giving us many treasured memories.
As per Darcy’s request there will not be a service. Cremation will take place. A remembrance will be held at a later date.
Memorial gifts in Darcy’s memory may be made to Ageless Acres Animal Sanctuary, Box 5, Portreeve, Saskatchewan, S0N 2A0, or to the charity of one’s choice.  Condolences may be sent to http://www.saamis.com or to condolences@saamis.com subject heading Darcy Rudd.  Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel and Crematorium, “The Chapel in the Park”, Medicine Hat, Alta.
