A 47-year-old Swift Current man has died following a motorcycle collision with a transport truck near Maple Creek last week.
The accident occurred at about 9:30 a.m. on June 26 at the junction of the Trans-Canada Highway and Highway 21. The Swift Current man was driving the motorcycle westbound on the Trans-Canada Highway when he collided with the rear of the transport truck which was travelling north on Highway 21.
Maple Creek RCMP and EMS responded to the accident. The motorcycle driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The lone driver of the transport truck did not require medical attention.
The westbound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway were reduced to one lane and traffic on Highway 21 was detoured around the scene for about five hours while RCMP and a traffic analyst investigated.
The investigation is ongoing.
